By Provincial legislation, the responsibility for operating the residential blue box program has transitioned from the Municipalities to Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs).

The PROs have in turn established a common collection system (CCS) to provide residential curbside blue box collection services and facilities to receive (RFs) and ship the recyclables to process facilities contracted by the PROs.

HGC has been awarded collection contracts by the CCS to collect recyclables in the City of Brantford, City of Cornwall, North and South Glengarry, North and South Stormont, North and South Dundas, and Edwardsburg-Cardinal.

HGC also has agreements with several PROs to process recyclables at its facilities.
